The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy has moved beyond the walls of its internationally recognized Aurora, IL, campus to expand science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs and services across Southern Illinois. IMSA’s Belleville office offers STEM enrichment programs for area students and professional development programs for educators.

All About Animals (Grades 1-2)

Embark on the ultimate STEM adventure! Our program blends hands-on science, engineering, and math activities with exciting animal exploration. Kids will discover how animals grow, solve challenges, and even examine owl pellets! With fun stories like Never Too Little To Love by Jeanne Willis, they’ll design, build, and improve their creations. A perfect mix of learning, creativity, and fun!

Calling all future surgeons! Get ready to scrub in and ‘scalpel up’ for an immersive surgical experience!
Embark on a hands-on experience with laparoscopic surgery using a realistic simulation box, complete with an endoscope setup. Rotate through challenging skill stations, practicing the fine motor and visualization techniques that real surgeons use every day. From mastering surgical instruments to understanding the importance of hand-eye coordination, this experience will prepare you for the world of arthroscopy and beyond.
Explore the innovation behind surgical tool design, learning how different instruments work together to predict new breakthroughs. Then put your skills to the test in the ultimate Surgical Skills Showdown—a friendly competition where speed, precision, and accuracy will crown our next champions!
